The pristine high alpine landscapes of the Alps are at risk, as developers encroach ever further in the name of expanding ski resorts and their infrastructure. Vanishing Lines tells the story of these last wild places on the brink of destruction, and the movement to protect what we still can.

This short documentary looks at the planned merger of two ski areas on the Pitztal Glacier in the Austrian Ötztal Alps. These massive interventions would irrevocably change one of the last wild glaciers in Europe.

In “Vanishing Lines”, Patagonia ambassadors Mitch Tolderer and Lena Stoffel explore the mood regarding this project. For this purpose, the two set off to their home mountains near Innsbruck, Austria, to look at the issue through the eyes of nature lovers and environmentalists.

In addition, the two freeride professionals examine our relationship with the places we go to connect with nature and pursue our passions. They also want to highlight the threats to these wild spaces across Europe.
