Year after year, a world that has degenerated into a pure consumer society produces obscure blossoms during the contemplative, quiet time of the year. Before Christmas, the irrational buying and consumer behavior of our Western “civilization” reaches its peak – which is also precisely the entry point for this film.

At the Christmas markets there is a cozy and yet somehow tense atmosphere. Five young freeriders want to escape this hustle and bustle. They set off on their “Simple Life” road trip right after Christmas to take time out from the hustle and bustle and concentrate on the essentials. The crew doesn’t start without Christmas presents, though. Wrapped in newspaper, they don’t hand each other new smartphones, but simple, old push-button cell phones. Because the time-consuming world of social media and the like, as well as constant availability via Messenger, are now on hiatus.

On the road in two camper vans, the group of five spends an enriching time-out in the mountains – and discovers what enjoyable moments playing cards together can bring and how good jacket potatoes with butter taste. In this film, ambitious young freeriders show what conflicts an entire generation has to face, but also what ways out are possible.
