a mongolian freeski mountaineering adventure
In May 2013, the four Austrian freeriders set out to explore Mongolia’s Altai Mountains, near the Chinese and Russian borders, on skis.
Thanks to the help of a Mongolian expedition company, they set up their base camp for two weeks near the Potan glacier at 3100 meters above sea level. Life in the base camp was characterized by wind and cold and everyone had to deal with their own personal problems. Precise planning and the daily weather report from ZAMG Innsbruck via satellite phone were essential. The adventure ended with a multitude of impressions, both in terms of skiing and cultural nature.
